Lamps Plus

Role: Senior Copywriter

EMAIL UPDATES

I can certainly say my proudest contribution to the creative team at Lamps Plus was influencing the copy + design process. Rather than working in silos, lobbing words and images back and forth via email, we began meeting up beforehand to scrawl out some ideas on a whiteboard and work towards a shared understanding. Nice.

LOOKBOOKS

Like most other industries, lighting and furniture follow and set trends on a seasonal basis. Lamps Plus was founded over half a century ago and has achieved an international reach while maintaining its family-owned status. These lookbooks gave me the chance to coordinate with buyers, trend experts, designers, and our content manager and craft supporting copy.

ARTICLES + TIPS

Specialty lighting sometimes requires special instructions. Along with writing comprehensive instructional guides like this one—”How to Buy Outdoor Lighting: Planning and Design Tips”—I contributed resources like trend roundups style guides to Lamps Plus’ Ideas & Advice page.

SEO + WEB COPY

Like most e-comm retailers, Lamps Plus actively sought to improve the brand’s organic search rankings through optimizing a range of pages with relevant keywords and SEO copy. One such example included working with the SEO team to target a large range of specific pages on the site with small snippets of text that would bolster the brand’s rankings.

PRODUCT NAMING + DESCRIPTIONS

With over 50,000 products available onsite, there was always an opportunity to interact with products, create names and collections, interact with buyers, and—of course—write informative descriptions.
